It was a most popular part of the church Open Sunday as a whole host of teddies and other soft toys came to try their luck as Mayfield’s own parachute team.
First teddy bears and other assorted animals had to be registered and dealt with by the expert team who assigned them appropriate size parachute.
Then when enough had gathered they were taken up to the tower by team leader Charles with help and then carefully and precariously took the leap of faith from the very top of Mayfield’s highest building to descend to the earth.
It was a sunny afternoon but it was also a bit windy and certain brave teddies ended up in the trees and on the church roof and had to wait for a passing wind or in one case a long ladder to be got to get them down. However, no teddies were injured in the process, and all seemed to have the same smile that they went up with when they came back down.
As well as teddy bears, we had wolves, reindeer, dragons, rabbits and many other types of animals willing to make a jump.
