We’ve been asked to post this message from your Mayfield and Ellastone First
Responder Team:
When the emergency is in your home, the emergency services sometimes cannot
tell immediately which home is yours.
How can I help the emergency crew get to my house ASAP?
- Make sure that your house number or house name is clearly visible from the road – you would be surprised how much time is lost by searching for a house.
- Tell 999 if you want us to go to the back door and give any helpful details about parking if it is not obvious.
- Light up your house like a Christmas tree so that it stands out. This is especially useful in the early hours.
- Put pets away as they react differently when you are in distress.
- Remember that the First Responder team is local and that we may be at your house in less than 5 minutes
- Get the front door open ASAP
- If possible, get someone out onto the street straight away to flag us down with a phone torch OR put something over the gate that makes us notice your house.
Our houses often have only tiny names and numbers often by the front door – not easy to see especially at night! Help our First responder team to help you in that emergency!
