Wally Beeson Will Never be Forgotten

Wally Beeson

Thank you to everyone who sent such wonderful cards with memories of how you remembered Wally Beeson, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who so sadly passed away on Thursday the 19th of October 2023 after being in hospital for so long.

He was always a happy and kind person – he loved everything – his friends his family and the staff in his garage business.

He was very strong and despite his illnesses he kept smiling. He had pneumonia six times in his life, the first time when he was 18 but it didn’t stop him from enjoying his life. He loved sport and loved his dog training classes, which he held in the cattle market in Ashbourne’s. He loved training dogs and our daughter Sarah loved going to teach her dog Kim. She took him to a Chatsworth show. She was only very young, but she won a competition of getting your dog to jump in the big pond and bring back an item that had been put in the pond and the dog who was the first to bring it out and take it to its owner won. Sarah was given a bottle of gin as her prize, She brought it to Wally and me and said she didn’t want it. Wally and I had the gin and bought Sarah a present more suitable for a child.

Wally was very proud of our daughters who loved dogs and helped exercise the dogs we had at the boarding kennels. Our eldest daughter Joanna loved helping Wally at demonstrations he did at shows and events and Joanna loved spending many hours being taught by Wally.

We had dogs brought to our boarding kennels who were expecting puppies and it was my job making sure they were delivered safely. I loved doing that especially as my Labrador Rufus was the father of most of them. We sold the kennels when Wally’s garage became very busy, but I’ve always had a dog.

He was a great Derby County football fan and went to all the home games and when our grandson Jake was older he bought him tickets and took him to matches with him. Jake loves Derby County as much as Wally did. While he also played lots of golf, he loved fishing too and had lots of friends he went fishing with. Wally was a very kind person would help anyone he could.

In January of this year Wally was taken to hospital and was in hospital most of the year. He was very ill this month and sadly passed away on the 19th of October after being moved from the main hospital to palliative care, where he passed away the next day in no pain at all. Our daughters Joanna and Sarah and our grandson went to say goodbye just after.

We will miss him so much but always remember the happy times we had with him. Whilst Wally was in hospital, I was on my own and so bought my little dog Charlie to keep me company, he’s a lovely little dog and loves everyone and is a great comfort to me at this time.

Thank you again for your kind thoughts of Wally, it has helped me so much.

Yours Joyce Beeson
